Here is what we saw as we approached Moorea this morning.
Striking mountain peaks set against a coastline of varying shades of blue and green.
Locals from Moorea paddle up to motor boats with their outrigger-style boats, and they ride the wake of the motor boats. It's like a sport.
We were greeted with a warm and friendly hello
She seemed to be happy to see us!
I don't think we have ever seen anything like this on a tropical island.
We were accompanied by Madamoiselle Spirou, of Moorea Explorer tours. She was a very knowledgeable guide, and a fierce driver. I'm trying to work on a good caption for this photo!
We stopped at a place called The Belvedere, for a breathtaking view of the jungle and sea beyond.
This type of scenery is picture-postcard-perfect!
Our guide, Spirou, drove us around in this open-air vehicle. It was a great way to see everything.
Color and aromas are everywhere in Moorea
The pineapples from Moorea are among the sweetest and least-acidic pinapples in the world. We tasted them...and we agree!
I love this shot of us in a Pineapple field, with the famous Mt Moua Roa (also known as Bali Hai) mountain behind us.
Some other people took these ATV vehicles to visit the jungle. Looks like fun, eh?
Stunning, bright colors
Moorea is a florist's dream-come-true.
Just another "common" flower on Moorea!
These were especially colorful and vivid, yet so small.
Check it out, GREEN grapefruit (and very sweet and delcious, too).
Well, one of our hightlights was tossing avacados to these big, fat, dirty pigs. They would devour the whole avacado, pit included, in a sort-of feeding-frenzy.
Bali Ha'i (the film South Pacific) made this mountain peak famous.
These natural flowers grow in clusters that resemble Chinese lanterns.
We stopped at the Hilton Resort, with over-water bungalows.
I'd seen these sorts of places in brochures, and I can certainly say that they look just like this! Amazing!
Each photo is worthy of an award. You just point your camera and click it. The result is a photo just like this one!
Hmmm, maybe it's time to open up the Moorea branch of Zilbert Realty Group!
Maybe for our next non-cruise trip, Moorea has a place just for us!
Here's a typical shot of what it looks like driving around the streets of Moorea.
Purple is so unusual, as is this flower.
This flower just says it all: you are in French Polynesia.
We stopped at this place to drink fresh pinapple juice, and was it ever delicious! We also had a chance to sample jams made from the island's best fruits.
It wasn't hard to convince us to indulge with some tropical fruits!
A nice stop after a long jungle tour.
Just before our tour was over, we made a trek up one of the mountains.
From way up high, we simply peered down to the coastline below. This is perfectly-clear water with coral reefs. From this height, the coral looks like a land mass, but it is actually under water.
We have travelled to many places, and this vista tops everything else we have ever seen.
Or...at least on the top of Moorea
We can't get enough of these views.
This is all-natural, by the way.
I think we can both agree, that today, we sampled a little bit of heaven on earth!
