It only costs about $5 to park your car in the one of the paved spaces in the park, but I'm too cheap to pay that. I park in the off-highway vehicle area, which is through this gate.
The entrance to the trail is near the lake.
A lot of people fish in this lake. These two men are fishing from an inflatable raft.
This is an American coot. There are a lot of these on the lake.
There are many beautiful views of desert scenery along the trail.
This floating peer was built by volunteers, for use by fishermen.
The trail is very easy to follow. This large saguaro is right next to the trail.
The trail follows the shoreline around this cove.
This is an interesting dead tree.
If you look closely, you will see some hikers on the trail on the other side of the cove.
Some parts of the trail are a little damp.
The trail starts to climb on this side of the cove.
That is Stewart Mountain in the background.

The Superstition Mountains are in the background. The air is hazy today, so they don't show up very well.

I didn't see any campers in Camper's cove.
That is the Desert Belle. It takes people on narrated tours of the lake. I want to take a ride on it some day.
A fork in the trail.
In this area, a lot of people have taken wood from saguaro skeletons. I think that is illegal, though, and the fine is very high.

Four Peaks comes into view again.

I used two pictures to make a stereo picture. Look at the right image with your left eye and the left image with your right eye (your eyes will be crossed). When you get to two images to merge into one in the middle, you will see the picture in 3D.

Because of the high, thin clouds, there were sundogs this afternoon.

This hike covers part of the Butcher Jones trail, which follows the shore of Saguaro Lake. I don't know how long the Butcher Jones trail is, so I don't know if I covered most of it or not. I know I didn't get to the end.
